Boudoir is about Who YOU Are!
I will always ask my clients what they want in terms of location (in studio or outside), outfits, and hair and makeup, but I often receive the response . . . “it’s up to you”.
I don’t like to say, ‘you’re wrong’, but you are! It’s not up to me, it’s up to YOU!
This is your shoot and everything about it has to be about you and your desires. I will of course help you every step of the way and offer my suggestions…but the final decision is yours, because it’s your experience and they are your photos.
When it comes to boudoir, regardless of what you think, we are not limited to the bedroom, and your outfits do not have to be skimpy lingerie or no clothing at all. It’s all about what makes sense to you and who you are…and what makes you feel beautiful. The location, your look and the poses are not a ‘one size’ fits all. Let’s get creative.
Every experience is customized to each client and that is where the fun starts…in the planning!
What do you want for your boudoir experience?
Here’s a few things to get you thinking before you even say YES to your own experience.
LOCATION
Between the Sheets in the Bedroom
In the Kitchen or Living Room for a natural vibe
In the Studio
In a lake on a summer’s day
Up a tree…or up a hill in the middle of the field
Running through the forest on a winter’s day…one of my favourite moments when this beyouty (above) took off her boots and started running through the snow!
OUTFITS
Your absolute favourite outfit…as many clothes as you like!
Lacy Lingerie
Cozy Pyjamas or an Oversized Sweater…or his sweater!
Jeans and a bra (or your bare boobies)
In the bath with a whole bunch of bubbles
Nothing but a smile ;)
STYLE
Soft and Light…my usual style
A little more edgy and a little less light
Silhouettes
THEME
Sexy or Sweet?
Casual or Classy?
Natural or Glam?
Playful…I just had a client in the studio for a besties shoot and they totally rocked the 80s!
PROPS
Books
Your Snowboard, Motorbike or Truck
A Feather…it just happened and it was so magical (outside in the teepee in the snow)
Your [unloaded] gun
Your Guitar or other Musical Instrument
Your Horse’s Saddle
These are just a few ideas inspired by previous client sessions…but the list is endless and I’m excited to add even more cool things to this list.
