7 Ways to be More Confident

Lacking self-confidence doesn't have to be your way of life forever.

It IS possible to do things that will change that.

Be in control of your confidence.

Don't let your confidence be in control of you - and what you do and can achieve.

Your self-confidence can increase - it just takes time and practice.

By taking actions that improve your competence and self-image - you can increase that self-confidence without the help of anyone else.

1. Smile

I feel instantly better when I smile.

And guess what happens when you smile at someone?!

They smile back!

And how do you feel now?

AH-MAZING!

2. Think and Act Positive - Kill Negative Thoughts

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

By changing your thoughts - great things will happen.

But more than just thinking positive - put it into action.

Action is actually the key to developing self-confidence.

It’s one thing to learn to think positive - but when you start acting on it - you change yourself.

You are what you do - and so if you change what you do - you change what you are.

Instead of telling yourself you can’t do something - be positive - and just DO IT!

You have to learn to be aware of your self-talk - the thoughts you have about yourself and what you’re doing.

Imagine that a negative thought is a bug.

When that negative thought comes along - squish it!

Then replace it with a positive one.

3. Face Your Fears

When we feel in control - we're not afraid.

When we have a level of comfort with something - it's not scary.

When we don't feel in control - we don’t think clearly because our emotional brain is in the driver’s seat and takes over.

This is why fear often seems random and irrational - our emotions are in control.

Think about your worst fear.

Spend time with it.

Imagine the worst that could happen.

Now focus on your breathing.

Feel your body relax.

You’re on your way to conquering your fear.

4. Set Small Goals and Achieve Them

I am a dreamer.

But sometimes those dreams of mine seem so far away.

It's overwhelming and discouraging.

So what should we do?

Set a small goal.

A goal you KNOW you can achieve - and then achieve it.

You’ll feel good about that.

Now set another small goal and achieve that.

The more you achieve these small goals - the better you’ll feel - and the closer you will be to your big dream!

Soon you’ll be setting bigger (but still achievable) goals and achieving those too.

5. Speak Slowly

Such a simple thing.

It shows confidence.

Growing up - and even into my adult - I felt that I was ignored.

Was I too quiet?

Am I boring?

I would speak quickly - or mumble - because I didn't want friends to get bored.

The quicker I spoke the less likely they would be to ignore me.

But this had the reverse effect - because they couldn't tell what I was saying.

Speak slowly and clearly and people will listen.

When someone takes the time to listen - it fills you with confidence.

6. Dress Nicely

If you dress nicely - you’ll feel good about yourself.

You’ll feel successful and presentable and ready to tackle the world.

It doesn’t mean wearing a $500 outfit.

Wear a colour, style and fabric that suits your body.

Something you feel BEAUTIFUL in.

7. Exercise

I know I've said this before.

But all you have to do is take a walk a few times a week - and you’ll see benefits.

You will feel good - and therefore will feel confident!

Some of these may not apply to you - as confidence has a wide spectrum.

You may have confidence in some areas but not others.

For example: I am confident in my body image but not in public speaking.

I do practice all of the above myself - and I would say that it has made a huge difference in my life and confidence.

Try one - or all of them - and let me know how you get on.
